GSM stands for Grams per square meter. By definition, one square meter is one A0 size sheet of 16 A4 size sheets. The GSM denotes the thickness and weight of the paper. For example, a standard sheet of letterhead will be printing on 90GSM paper, whereas an invitation to an event will generally be printed on 300GSM paper making it much thicker than the letterhead.
